If we can put Studying in
the University in one word, we would feel Challenging and tough within a six
months. Studies at US Universities are totally different over here. You have
all the freedom to choose whichever subjects you want to study and how much
ever subject you wish to take in a semester. It is but natural to be in touch
with the seniors as to which subjects are good to go for in the first semester.
It happens many times that
the same subject is taken by two different professors. So, it is again consult
with the seniors which professor to go for and how difficult the curriculum is.
Always remember, professor would teach you the basics and the assignment levels
would be way high than what professor has taught. We have to be careful about queries or doubts
and immediately approach the professors or the Teaching Assistant to get it
clarified and totally resolved. If could
not do clarity on the subject, then it is quite natural that it may lead to
blunder at the time of studies for Final exam of the semester.
It is advisable to not to
copy assignments of your classmate, as you would be in a big mess if you do
it. If you are caught for copying
assignment, then you have to face a rule of code of conduct and strict actions
are taken, as may be provided in Rule book by the University.
The Assignments and Projects are always experience to be tough but it
will elevate your skills and you would become more proficient in those
subjects. We have to Put in all efforts towards these Assignments and Projects
and get a good grade. A good grading excels your career life at US for job
opportunities as well. So you have to work hard for study in the project and
Assignments, using Library books and study available in the market.

Internship Hunting:
You would allowed to go for
an Internship anywhere between 4 to 8 months, based on the rulings of
University you are joining. So Universities allow you to go normally between
May and December or even Jan and May. So
if you are aiming to go for an Internship in May, start hunting for it from January.
So, your first job would be to prepare a
good resume, professionally designed and skillful. You may take the help of Counsellor
in the University as they help you in building a good resume or even you may
take help of your senior students in the University. Following the step you prepare the resume,
the next step would be to start applying. There are many sources how you find a job in

call from a company. The process of getting a job is different. Here’s the
process:
a)
HR shortlists your resume
and gives a call to get to know you
b)
HR forwards the resume to
the Hiring Manager
c)
If Hiring Manager likes
your Resume, he/she would setup a technical phone interview
d)
After the phone interview,
if they are happy with you, you would be called for an onsite interview or
technical test.
e)
You may get an offer letter
/ email, if your onsite interview / technical test is satisfactory.
f)
It takes anywhere between 4
weeks to a month to get a formal offer email from a company, as per company’s recruitment
policy.
Life as An Intern: Awesome
Experience
To be an Intern in a
company is one of the best experiences you would have. The cultural environment
will totally be friendly, interactive and fun. People around you would come up to you to
welcome you as an intern. You would be guided through the first few weeks and
then allowed to choose tasks you wish to do or conducted a training session.
You would be paid good. You
will certainly enjoy the days as an intern. You will have good amount to money
for your expenses and to save for your tuition fees for your upcoming
semesters. You will be paid anywhere between 20$/hour to 35$/hour, during
internship. Above all, you will allowed to work for 40 hrs in a week.
Life would be great during
this period. Always try to convert your internship into a full-time job as you
can avoid the hassles of getting a full-time job after graduation. If you are
on 8 months internship, approach your
month after 6 months to talk regarding your prospects as a full time employee. This time you will have more opportunities as
compared to Internship opportunities. Update your resume and follow the same
process as that of Internship to get a call. You may interact with you team lead or HR
manager about possibilities of full-time opportunities. You should not hesitate
to make an enquiry of full time job in the same company. People certainly would expect you to show the
interest for the full-time job. If you could not get full time job in the same
company, then it is better to start hunting the job, the same way you followed

vacancies matching your qualification / experience etc., it would be more beneficial.

After MS study:
If you are going for
software developer, then you will go through coding tests before the
interviews. You should be very proficient in your subjects and skills when you
are in search for full-time. You will have to change your resume as per job
requirements. The interviews will be grilling and will focus on your past
experience, problem solving abilities and your fundamental knowledge on your
skill sets.
